Hidden deep within the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the Lost City (Ciudad Perdida) is one of South America's most breathtaking archaeological sites. This five-day trek will take you through lush jungles, river crossings, and sacred indigenous lands, leading to an ancient civilization that predates Machu Picchu. 📍 Meeting Point: Pick-up in Santa Marta’s tourist area ⏳ Duration: 5 days / 4 nights 💥 Difficulty Level: High What’s in store for you? 🏕️ Day 1: Into the jungle Your adventure begins at 8:00 am with a scenic drive to Mamey. After lunch, embark on a 9 km trek through dense forests and rolling hills, reaching the Adán camp, where you'll spend the night surrounded by nature. 🌿 Day 2: Indigenous encounters & river baths After an early breakfast, trek 8 km, passing indigenous settlements of the Kogui and Wiwa people. Learn about their traditions and deep connection to the Sierra Nevada. After lunch at Mumake camp, cool off in the crystal-clear waters of the Buritaca River. Continue 9 km to Paso de Lorenzo or El Paraíso, the last camps before the Lost City. 🏛️ Day 3: The Lost City—A sacred wonder Rise early for the final 1-hour climb to the Lost City. Explore its terraces, staircases, and ancient carvings as your guide unveils the history and spiritual significance of this Tayrona masterpiece. Afterward, return to Paso de Lorenzo for lunch and hike back to Mumake for your last night in the jungle. 🌄 Day 4: Jungle waterfalls & local communities Begin the return journey with a 5-hour trek, passing stunning waterfalls like La Negra, Pablo, and Abanico. Enjoy refreshing swims and meet local farming communities before settling into a riverside camp for the night. 🌿 Day 5: Farewell to the Lost City After breakfast, complete the last stretch of the hike back to Mamey. Enjoy a final meal before the drive back to Santa Marta, arriving around 4:00 pm.
